Anthony Mulder

Anthony had a quiet, patient and contented nature and right through to early teens could often be found spending hours happily building Lego models, in later years reading books, playing the drums, or working on projects in the garage on his own or with friends.

He had committed his heart, life and soul to God. He was strong in faith, hope and love. He had such a close relationship with God and no one could take that from him.   He had fears but his love for God carried him through and made him strong.

Prayer groups, Powerzone holiday programmes, Cadets and Gems Kids club were his passion. He had a very special servant heart that wanted to serve others especially by being involved in children’s ministries. Holiday programs were the way he spent every holiday – not going to work or having his own fun but making fun for others.

His one desire and hope for all the young boys he watched over as a leader, that they to will love the Lord and want to live for Him, and serve Him, and become great kids club leaders and Powerzone leader one day too.

Anthony loved music; he took up drums when he was 10 years old.  The bigger he got, the harder he struck and he didn’t always worry about the time of day. If he felt like playing then he would play.

Mums kitchen was a regular spot even from when he was barely able to walk, with the upended pots being gleefully disfigured.  He loved to eat and also to cook, appreciating everything he sampled. A recent spell of work at a café, and a course at MIT gave him such a buzz.

Anthony was also keen on playing sports – volleyball and basketball (no surprise at six foot three or four). He loved outdoor activities too – camping, tramping, kayaking and fishing.

The most treasured gift he had was a heart so willing to love and help others. If he saw something needed doing, Anthony would be there, quietly, willingly doing it. At home that big heart was just “normal” – “that was our Ant”.

This is written by Anthony’s Cell Group:
We’d always look forward to the weeks when Anthony was on breakfast, because we knew that we’d be very well fed. His breakfast muffins were exactly what we needed so early in the morning, and his cheese cakes were so stunning. Whenever there was a shared lunch. Ant’s food would always be gone first, and you’d have to get in quick otherwise you’d miss out. Anthony was so passionate about our Tuesday meetings, he’d always txt me and make sure that I remind everyone about prayer group. He’d never turn up late, and would always have his bible and notebook in hand ready to learn and share about what he had learnt. His compassionate nature, sense of humour, and respect for others is a huge inspiration to all of us. We’re so glad we had you in our Tuesday morning team, we miss you so much bro. We’re all so glad that we got to spend those Tuesday mornings with you man.
