This is what Floyd had written on his MySpace
Hi my name is Floyd I'm 16 and live in Auckland, N.Z. I love Soccer, Cricket, Games, Games, Technology (overall) ,Star Wars, Food, Games, Homework (NOT)!! I also like hanging with my friends, playing and listening to Music and I love God.
Our son Floyd was a simple, humble and well mannered kid. The main character that stands out about him is his humility. He was a very talented kid and you name it and he played it. Any instrument was not too much for him to make music unto the Lord. His passion was music all the time.
I remember him writing up something and then calling out to his sister Janis to come and listen to what he had written. I had a full record of which band was coming around to NZ as he would want to go and we would have to give him a ride.
He was a dynamic young man and was growing up really well. Where parents questioned me, “How do you manage a teenager?” I would say, “He manages me. I really have no problems with my lovely son.” In fact, I discussed my struggles with him and he used to advise me. He was a different kid - naughty but respectful. We remember him always as a kid who cared about others, who encouraged his peers & who helped those who were feeling low. He had a very forgiving heart and was a real encouragement not only to kids but adults as well.
I remember a gentleman who he played Badminton with and was not too good at the game, telling me that Floyd always missed shots to allow him to win and always encouraged him. Such stories I have heard more than one.
Janis looked up to him as her mentor and guide. He would encourage her to play netball, soccer and also go forward in music and at Powerzone.
He was very involved with Elim and we always told him to pay board as he only slept at home but spent most of his time in the House of God. He had a real passion for God and walked in the footsteps of Christ. He decided to profess his faith publicly in December 2007, 4 months before the tragedy and really made us proud.
His favourite scripture was “Romans. 8:28 – In all things God works for the good of those who love Him.” He really lived that verse.
One of the lines in his last write-up at school on a topic “What Matters”, he wrote – “After all my years of searching, I found that only one thing that makes a difference in our lives – is the Lord Jesus Christ – he really can help.”
I was stunned at his faith and the deepness of his relationship with God. The impact he had through this on the younger ones he served at Powerzone and holiday programs at church was just incredible.
We as a family stand in awe of this young life, though gone so early, has left a strong mark on our lives. We miss him heaps each day and the sound of his music in our home, but we live and carry on, knowing fully well we will see him again one day.

This is written by Floyd’s Cell Group:
Floyd was such a huge part of our Tuesday morning prayer meetings, No matter what; he’d never miss a meeting, although he’d regularly turn up a just a little late. Even at six thirty in the morning, when we’d all be half asleep, he’d be full of energy, and be ready for breakfast. He always thought that he could eat more than he actually could; when we’d meet at Denny’s he’d always order the ‘Pancake Passion’ and we would have to help him finish it. Besides all the cheeky and fun loving things that Floyd would get up to, he was also always very committed, whether it was for Tuesday mornings or for worship team, he’d always turn up ready. He had such a passion for worship, and if there was ever a need for a keyboardist, no matter what, Floyd would be there. We all miss you so much dude!! And you’ll always be apart of Tuesday mornings.
